I was aware of the repair program for the butterfly keys since last year. I had to buy an Anker powerbank just to support occasional use in a conf room where a power outlet is far. If you're doing Excel, this means temp recovered files and a ton of inconvenience after reboot. The inconvenient thing here is the mac is still showing 60-70% or so of power, but the screen will just shut-off suddenly even at this high-charge %. Similarly, after just 600+ cycles, the mac’s battery won’t last 1hr of Powerpoint projection.
If you actually look at a key that comes off, you'll notice outright the small hooks that are coming loose. I actually bought a few keys (from other macs chopped for parts, I suppose) available online for around 4usd each, and replaced specific letters that were becoming irritatingly loose from their places.
